I don't think we'll get a typical shoujo ending here.

And I have a feeling the main girl will have a relationship with her friend's ex...... and I 'm sure the step-brother and his gf? will have a go at it, if you know what I mean.

And this is the point where they will go their separate paths, and not succumb to their mutual feelings.
