I'm not saying that the story is not interesting but, why does he not just let the guy have the wine collection? I mean it should not really matter since he lives on his own and was never interested in wine at all. Honestly, if it was me I would have just said that that Tomine guy could just have the collection. I mean...why go through the trouble? Oh well, I guess if he did that there would be no story. lol

I think it's probably because the collection is worth a lot of money... or maybe it has sentimental value? I'm just guessing, I haven't even started reading it yet. It looks like an interesting manga though! >.<

The first time he tried wine he was hooked seeing what kind of emotions, expressions, etc. that it brings him I believe that more so the wine holds sentimental value and also it has peaked his interest.

Not sure if this is a spoiler, not much of one if it is, but its something I learned from watching the drama, so I don't know if its applicable to the manga.

Shizuku has been estranged from his father for a long time, and when he started drinking wine, he begins to feel closer and to more fully understand his father's character. Shizuku believes the contest is a message from his father. The wine collection doesn't have monetary value to Shizuku, instead its a link to the psyche of his father, who apparently loved wine more than his family or so Shizuku believes

i just think that since shizuku has become a hater against wine, and his father loves it, that the father wants shizu to learn to love it
and since he also trained shizu's senses for wine at an early age, shizu can use it to his advantage and become "the king of wine" lol, something like that

Because the whine colection is his fathers treasure and he doesnt want Tomine ot have it. Its more of a sentimental thing than for the money. He also wants to understand the love his father had for wine and of course he doesnt want to lose to Tomine xD
