It's because he recognized her from the photo Kyoko (Tohru's mom) showed a few years back when he first met her. He still wasn't comfortable with the fact that he watched Kyoko die and he tried really hard not to tell her so soon, he didn't want to upset Tohru so much to make her want to avoid him.

Yeah, basically Kyo was just really uncomfortable with that fact that she was there at all. He kind of didn't want to acknowledge it, and he didn't want to get close to her...and he's just awkward on his own.

That is true. Of course as the series progressed, Kyo and Tohru started getting a little closer to each other, but they were even closer at the end when they were finally able to hug, that part is cute.

I loved it. If I was in the background during that scene I would've started a slow clap. Definitely. I never thought he was actually going to. A hug would've been nice though, come on. Break the formalities here Yuki.

Maybe it's because Kyou felt uncomfortable about it, seeing how he "introduced" himself to her in a... bold way

But I love how Yuki calls Tohru "Honda-san". It's so cute~

I barely remember the anime and I don't watch dubs, but I heard somewhere once that in the FB dub when Haru asks Tooru to call Yuki by his first name when he wakes up, they translate it into her calling him "Prince Yuki". Ew? Fruits Basket isn't the same without the honorifics. >:/
