Unhappy Reality check: that bird will die

Randomly realized that when she saved the baby bird she also condemned it to death. When a human touches or handles a baby bird the parents will then reject that bird. I think its a smell thing but the bottom line is she should have just let it die because now it will be neglected by the parents and possibly starve. Now I'm sad.....

yeah... it's not a myth. A lot of animals tell their offspring from others by sense of smell. If it doesn't smell right then they'll reject it.

It could also depend on the type of bird, but most of the time they'll get rejected.

this does happen. a baby bird fell out of its nest into my back yard and my dad had to get to it before our dog ate it. in the process i told him not to touch it because the mama bird wouldnt take care of it. he said that wouldnt happen and the next day the bird was dead because the mama bird wouldnt give it any food.

Well, being sheltered as she is, she probably didn't know that. She had good intentions though.

Um, no. That is a complete myth. Snopes even confirmed it.
Besides, birds hardly ever use their nose so you can rub your balls or whatever all over them and chances are, the mother wouldn't care.

Anyways, that myth is not true. Since I'm too lazy to type and explain, I'll just leave this link: http://www.snopes.com/critters/wild/babybird.asp

So yeah, LOL. Reverse reality check?
