Default So sad, the ending sucked

I cried so bad when her lover died, then we find out she is going to have his kid........ That was the most awfully sad ending I have ever had the chance to read. I like cried all night. The could have at least left his mind survive in the dog some how, you know, looking after his kid from afar?

I disagree. For my part, the fact that she carries his child, means the es genes is continued. Well... not just that, I mean, I hate it when things end, with no possibilities. So that kid in her, gave enough satisfaction. *shrug* I hate babies though, so I suppose this is weird coming out of me.

But still, I did like Shuro, it's too bad he died. But that's the limit for my sympathy for him, as said, I'm satisfied with his child. Kinda liked Izaku too...

I dunno, perhaps it just wasn't my type of manga. Thinking it now, I probably vented all my rl problems on it and got satisfied in the end with the bad turns... ...and I just realized I had a smile on my face finish reading ><... yes, I know I'm a bit twisted atm, ignore me.

I think rather than 'sad ending' it was a 'disappointing ending' because the main character dieeeed....!!! It didn't make me cry because... well, the atmosphere of the manga didn't build room for crying (it's a rather twisted manga so while reading it I have no room for real emotion, it's like my mind was tuned so it matched the manga frequency), so no, I didn't feel notably sad... DISAPPOINTED, yes. Very very much so.

I think this needs a sequel, to erase that bitter aftertaste in my mouth...

I disagree. I think it was the perfect ending. Not all stories have happy endings and a tragic ending just seemed to fit this perfectly. Even tragedies can be beautiful if done right.

i think it's fine just the way it is. i wasn't sure what to expect; so i just let myself delve into the moments of the scenes in the manga and not think too much.
now that i think of it, i'd still be happy with either endings, at least the baby is 'what's left of him'.

We have expectation of the ending, when it turns out different, we're disappointed. But was that a bad story?

I'm disappointed when Akiba died. I really like his character. Moreover Kujou finally found and emotionally loved a guy. It's just a shame that they were only together for very short time. Both of Kujou and Akiba have their own personalities and issues that make them feel they don't suit with the society. Meeting with each other sorta break the "curse".

Tsch.. How to put this XD

Disappointment is acceptable because after all, Akiba is a type of main character everyone would like. But it is just 'sad ending' instead of 'bad ending'. The ending doesn't sux. But I've been craving for realistic manga - that's probably where this thought comes from.

Actually at the first time Kujou found him dead, I've guessed that Akiba's mind still exists somewhere and at the end of story, Akiba would be revived. I was thinking it was trapped inside Izaku's mind, but appears to be inside Kujou. Then when Akiba said he can only send back Kujou - that's when I realized the author was going to kill Akiba. How unexpected, darn. But honestly speaking, it was also relieving. At the moment when we consider as heartbreaking, she can still move on and holding on new hope which is implied by the baby she is carrying.

I think THAT would be the true disappointing story instead.

We don't focus on how Akiba' life is, but how ES' life is in normal humans world. Akiba is one of main characters. He plays major part, but doesn't necessarily mean the story revolves around him. Throughout series, Akiba played all of his important scenes. When it's over, he's dead. The author still keeps maintaining him as "main character" until the end - in case you don't notice.

It would be different if at the start author implies that Akiba is important, but he toasted Akiba halfway, lets say around volume 4 or 5, and never putting much efforts against Izaku. If he can't do much, why makes impression that he is main character? This would be an example where I'd say the story is poorly written.

But the author didn't do this. S/he never switched the main role to other character even if Akiba died; s/he ended the story. Keep continuing the story would be an empty effort to resurrect Akiba in the form of his child.

What's the point? New conflict? New Izaku?
The main characters of Eternal Sabbath manga were Kujou, Akiba, and Izaku. The story happens because the existence of these three. With two out of three main characters died, you shouldn't make a sequel; the story ends.

Unless the idea of sequel comes from entirely different reason such as this one:

I don't think anyone has given some thought to this, but does anyone seem to be bothered by the fact that Kujo's baby is an ES offspring. I would also like to see a sequel. I'm curious about the kid's development into adulthood. Will he have the same abilities as his "father", and will he live to be 200. And also the woman in Izaku's control, will she too give birth to an ES that might be identical to Akiba-kun, but with Izaku's personality?, or will he chose another path from that of his father's? Will some secret organization, take away Kujo-san's baby away in order to gain perfection once again?

There's many ways to start a sequel, but it will take a whole of imagination to top the original, either way this is one of the best intricate stories out there.
The idea from this post sounds interesting. However I still think that if Izaku' pseudo-mother successfully carries new offspring is a bit forced. But possibility of newborn Izaku-like is high since it was a rape and would make the mother reacts more negatively towards the baby.

The conflict would be different though. Probably full of revenge theme. Also different from Izaku and Akiba, these offsprings don't experience the whole experiment and research stuffs therefore the sequel main character candidate already loses one motive. Well, I don't know.

To me, there is no strong basis for the plot of sequel. Just your casual revenge and.. that's it.

On one hand, I'm satisfied with this ending, though I really hate Akiba/Shuro died, I really like she's gonna have his child and everything ended fairly well. I just really don't like that so many died, the worst is of course Shugo..... It's good Izaku was finally freed though

A possibility is that Akiba could revive in the baby mind, or is already there, you know is a possibility he followed her mind after sending her to her body and he got inside the fetus, and is waiting to be born, or he's still inside her mind but is weak so he only needs the fresh mind of the baby to gain control and be born again.

that's just mu thought, so don't pay too much atention.
    what? where? when?....

Yeah, I thought killing off Akiba was unnecessary. I guess I see that the author wanted to make it bittersweet and then have it end with the baby, but the author killed off so many characters that I feel like she could have left Akiba alive. I think it was a bit of a cop out actually, how he died so easily. To me it doesn't make sense. I wish this could have been a bit longer, or that we could have seen a bit more between Mine and Akiba. Sigh it was really good at the start and I still feel it was a worthwhile read, really intriguing too, but some of it felt rushed and forced, and I think the ending could have been improved upon.

I was quite disappointed at first when I saw that Shuro died at the end. But on hindsight, I think that's for the best. ES should not exist in this world in the first place, and it seems appropriate that both Shuro and Izaku perish together. I feel consoled that at least a part of Shuro continues to live on (the baby).
