Default I have a question about her aunt.

Did she tell her aunt everything that was done to her by Riki? I find it odd that her aunt did not fire him and instead continues to let him near her niece after what he did.
I suppose I think that way because I know my family would not only fire him but also beat him near to death, even if he's good at the job.

There really is no excuse for what he did.

I apologize if this has been asked before but I read through the other threads and didn't notice anything.

    I'm not too sure either.

But either way, it makes me really mad that the aunt forces the two of them to work together so often! I mean, her niece BEGGED her to not force them together. The aunt knows that her niece was traumatized, whatever it was that the guy did. And yet she still throws them together all the time. In my opinion, she's pure poison.

I think the aunt didn't do more because she doesn't really know the details. She only knows that Shuri hates men because of Riki, but doesn't know why, so for all she knows Riki could have been a cheating bastard and that's why Shuri hates men, and while that is bad, it's no reason to fire someone, since they are going to be working together and be professional about it.

Now, if she had known the actual details, she might have done more, I agree, putting her niece to work with her rapist is not cool, but I just re-read chapter 2 and Shuri just tells her that Riki is her ex, the one that made her hate men, but when her aunt asks her for details, Shuri brushes her off saying she doesn't even want to think about it, so Saho knows nothing about the abuse.

So I think that Saho thinks that Shuri and Riki's relationship woes were typical teenage ones, and that maybe Riki cheated on Shuri or something and that Shuri blew things out of proportion, and until Saho doesn't really find out the details, we won't really know if she's a callous b*tch or not.

Well, i think she took the right decision and a professional one. Logically, Riki is more capable and can achieve constant good results in his work, while Shuri is a girl wich gets easily swayed (can't blame her though, her ability can be a pain sometimes).
I Think her aunt also did that so she could help Shuri mature and get over that past. That past that makes her want to keep her distance, not only to Riki but every other man.

    Agreed.

I think, whether or not the aunt knew the details, she was wrong to force them to work together closely. If this was real life, the aunt would be a terrible person.

It's fine if, not knowing the details, she doesn't want to fire the guy.

But to voluntarily send her niece to work so closely, again and again, with the individual who traumatized her is wrong.

    Screw "FACE YOUR FEARS!"

It is not okay to tell that to someone who was traumatized. It is a perfectly valid decision to stay the hell away from someone who did something terrible to you, and there is no one in this world who has the right to tell you otherwise. Seriously, any of you out there, please remember that it is OKAY to draw a line and tell someone enough. No one, be it a relative, a friend, your boss, anyone, has the right to force you to put your physical or emotional health in jeopardy.

As for now it was rather strongly suggested that the heroine told her aunt about almost everything so I will assume that she knows apart from rape-like-sex. From my point of view ( as I'm an young adult ) the aunt only seems professional. Let's be real. Maybe he is more experienced or talented as a detective but he can be replaced for better or worse on the other hand she is absolutely irreplaceable. As she has such a gift that is priceless in this kind of work she could find much better-payed job. Come on she could even work with FBI and learn from the best of the best. Additionaly she wants to learn and most of his abilities she can gain through the hard work but can he ever have what she was born with? OK he can be talented compared to 'normal' agents but he is still out of league when it comes to her usefulness. But that's my point of view and I tried to be completely logical.
But if I take to account the feelings I think that the aunt is a bit too cruel or too demanding when it comes to her niece because adding to all normal reasons for beeing distrustful, the heroine thanks to her gift is exposed to people' true nature which can be really ugly. That makes it even harder for her to become 'normal' with them.
Summing up I'm displeased with aunt, don't envy the heroine and think she needs some proffesional help.

Yeah I think so too. Be that she is her Aunt and use to be a police women. You would think that she would stand up for her niece.
Not just let it blow over, and tell her to suck it up and get to work. As for be professional, i don't think she very professional, especially since she has hired three people who really has no training in being a P.I. Even her niece only received a little bit of training because of her abilities. And probably the only reason she hired her niece.
