Why do you read Blue Steel?

I have just read on the release page of Blue Steel, that there are two major reasons why you read this awesome Manga. So i wanna know what your reason is. According to our godlike releaser "/a/non", thouse are the two reasons:

From what I've observed on komica, there are two kinds of Blue Steel fans:

- Has boner for missile/beam spam and ridiculous superweapons (me)
- Has boner for Takao (everyone else)

I added 2 more options. But for me its still most likely the first one. I cant get enough of thouse awesome battles and most of all, all the weapons. Thouse Fogs got their one hit kill weapons and there is nothing human made, that can withstand them. Would like to know, why humanity is still living xD

i like the story. never seen story that have so many detail. not care much about the weapon or takao, but im interested in those little helper around the ship. they're so cute, so little yet so doing so many chores hehehe

The reason that the Fog hasn't wiped out humanity yet is because they don't have weapons capable of reaching too far in shore, or the creativity to use their existing weapons in the right way. Also, they're out of ideas. The Fog is looking for this Admiralty Code thing as a sort of "Meaning of Life" matter. They have kind of put everything else on hold until then, and they have stretched themselves out as it is.

I dont think so. Since several Seaports seem to be intact an the Fog have missels in their weaponery, that cant be. They are just sinking every ship und shooting down every plain. Just thouse SSTO can reach other countrys over the sea. So if they would decide to wipe out humanity, they could do so for sure.

I love it just for that fact it has ships. I love ships. Period. Especially when they have crazy super weapons and crap. The ladies are a bonus.

I came here interested in the ships and how they looked redesigned from their real life counter parts.

The Mental Models and depicted warfare is a truly delicious bonus.

Simple There wouldn't be a Story if the fleet of Fog wiped out every human on Earth.

And I read it because I like it I don't need to be put into one of those 2 choices. Sure I like the ships and the weapons are kinda neat. Yeah I like Takao because the Mental Model is cute and funny. But without those I Think the story has a lot of depth that it can go. I like the idea of a Alien or Man made (core) that can control Ships and rebuild them to their needs. I just like the Story.

I haven't voted yet, but I was something of a ship nut for a while back when I was a kid, and a lot of ships I did my research on were the same ships we're looking at here, Pacific Theatre ships raised and turned into combat nightmares no human fleet can match.

Though there's enough to start reading with the ships, the monster superweapons, and the mental models, even all that wouldn't be enough to KEEP reading, but here's where Ark Performance's genius shines through on this series: The characters are all getting developed, there's plot twists and turns flying all over the place, and even though we have our fearless captain and his crew sallying forth to face the Fog even in the human side of things there are elements at work against him, his ship, and his crew.

The mental models aside from 401 start out as half-built characters, but that's what they are supposed to be: They're AI that hasn't really fully developed yet, and as they run into humans and interact with them, we see their growth right there on the page. Watching Takao go from a crazy girl assuming she's plenty strong, to chasing after Gunzou hoping to become stronger, to just flat out having a massive crush on him in general (and guessing at the same for Hyuuga's crush on 401) is part of what makes this manga so good.
