You can't have a martial arts story without a conflict and conflict require sides, which is gangs or clans or schools or factions
True you need big groups with different objectives otherwise the whole story would become boring.![]()
I love gangs ^^
i mean the elderly of the sunwoo clan are not that friendly and they don;t like shinwoo very much, does anyone think that some of them up to some thing

I think that must of the elders are fine, however one one of them is definetly not on his side:

Altough I could imagine he only wants the best for the clan
Ummm, yes. -_- Most of them are a threat to Shioon because they don't respect him, and one of them wants to have control over Shioon, which, no matter what the situation may be, controlling another person is an evil thing to do.If that's not enough, the elder wanted Jinie back-off if Shioon got into a fight, for the ill-intention of getting Shioon beat up.
Best way to describe the elders, or at least Jinie's Grandfather is manipulative, it is understandable really considering the new head they are obliged to follow only practiced martial arts for around one month and whose ki center has been destroyed compared to them who would have devoted their lives to the practicing of marital arts. They are likely planning to restore the strength of the clan and so the head cannot appear to be weak otherwise all of the efforts would be futile. As shown if you live in the murim world it doesn't really pay to be a nice guy unfortunately.
Usually adding groups of people into the manga ups the scale of the world effectively and makes the conflicts the protagonist faces seem more important, gangs are and good way to do this and allow for some bad-ass character to be introduced.
