If you read the chapter more carefully (Chp 10) it was more of a flash back than an actual development between them, though it seems to be justified that from that HarimaXEri is very possible if the manga still continued...

Well, seeing that is the final chapter and that glimpse of the future look like a continuity of chapter 9 (though not on the same timeline) I'm pretty sure (on this final chapter anyway) that they did in fact end up together. That, and also the fact that Harima never had that spark with Yakumo, other than seeing her as a little sister.
